Happy National Acadian Day; bonne fête nationale de l’acadie!
National Acadian Day, known in French as Fête nationale de l’Acadie, is celebrated each year on August 15 in parts of Canada as a tribute to Acadian culture and heritage. The date was chosen in 1881 during the first National Convention of the Acadians in Memramcook, New Brunswick, when Acadian leaders were given the mandate to establish a national day of celebration. Its observance also aligns with the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, giving the day both cultural and religious significance for many Acadians.
