What’s your favorite time of day?

My favorite time of the day is late at night. Everyone else is asleep, even my husband, and I can listen to him breathing deeply. If I’m very still, I can even hear the cats on our bed, purring away, and perhaps, Daisy, our Great Pyrenees right outside the door.

Everyone in the house quiet, sleeping soundly. I do hear an occasional car or delivery truck pass by our county road; that’s a fairly new occurrence. We live in the outskirts of Hawkins, a town of about 1500 souls — most of them, asleep, too.

Our log cabin is a great insulator, but we still hear loud sounds. Our security lights suddenly come on, indicating there’s a coyote or fox, or maybe a rabbit near the window. If I get up out of bed and peek outside in the back, I may even see a group of wild pigs or deer near the treeline.

Thunderstorms are quite a show, some nights here in East Texas. As long as nobody gets hurt, it’s fun to watch from our back porch.

My favorite thing to do these days, is to write my heart out. No interruptions. Such solitude! Such peace and tranquility! I am so very blessed!
