Announcing a new game for this blog! Every Friday – cuz Fridays are best – I will post a short story, maybe 100 words or less. My kids will pull 2 or 3 prompts from our box of saved prompts from homeschool. I will jot a story out using those prompts. As I am new to this, I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be timed or not – does that matter? For now, I will do it untimed, but not edited. So – here goes Episode 1 of Friday Flash Fiction!
“Could he hold me? Just for a moment, please?”
His expression sank as my voice trembled with need. We both craved each other’s closeness.
“Can’t I come to you, even for a second?”
I ached for him, just as he did for me. But she wouldn’t allow it. I understood, yet the hurt didn’t fade.
“Please?” I whispered, longing for tears to show my pain.
He rested his head on the pillow, knowing I couldn’t cross that threshold.
For weeks, he stayed in bed, and I lingered as near as I could, waiting. When he was strong enough, he finally wrapped me in his arms.
“Am I still your good boy?” I asked softly.
Prompt: good boy, pain
